Quick Setup Guide for miniUpdate 0.4

This script is for advanced users who are familiar with Linux/Unix.

1. Make sure you have all the following Perl modules installed. If you don't, download from www.cpan.org

To install a Perl module:
  1. login as root
  2. extract the module
  3. # perl Makefile.PL
  4. # make
  5. # make test (optional step)
  6. # make install

2. Download miniUpdate-0.4.pl

3. Edit the User Configuration Parameters section in miniUpdate-0.4.pl.

4. Finally, run the miniUpdate-0.4.pl program. It will stay in the background to monitor the IP address of your interface. If the address changes, it will update your DNS records automatically. So, please DO NOT RUN IT BY CRON.

5. Output of the program defaults to /var/log/miniUpdate.log. Check it for troubleshooting.

6. Please report bugs.

- Good Luck -
